Daniel had never been on a horse before.
It was kind of funny, too, because the werewolf looked stricken when he was helped up onto the sweetest, most docile one they had—Rose. You couldn't get any gentler than her. If she were a person she'd be the doting grandma that knitted sweaters for orphans and always bought girl scout cookies but donated them off to the homeless shelter rather than eating them.
And Daniel looked scared to death as he clutched the reins.
"You okay back there?" Jack laughed over his shoulder.
"Y- yeah!" The omega insisted. "Fine, thanks." Then, "How much further is it?"
"Just a bit." He told him. "Don't worry too much; Rose'll follow Thor here 'til the end of the earth. Just relax and enjoy the ride."
"I'm relaxed." Daniel insisted.
Jack just smiled to himself and led the way.
They continued on for about a good twenty minutes, just lazily taking the trail. Sage had practically thrust the gear at him when he asked if he could take the horses out for his date. It was after hours, for one, which meant there wasn't any conflict, and she seemed eager to see him get along with someone like this.
He was pretty sure it was because omegas supposedly toned down their alphas a bit and she'd said more than once that he needed to get stop acting like such a cocky rooster, but motives aside he could appreciate her support.
Besides, she wasn't exactly wrong about him. He wasn't too full of himself not to realize that he kind of had an ego. Can't knock an alpha for being an alpha, though.
"We're here." Jack announced as they came upon the picnic table by the river. It'd taken forever to lug the dang thing all the way out here and only really the ranch-goers ever used it, but it was a beautiful spot in the crook of nature and there were trees to tie the horses up to which made it an ideal resting location for long rides.
And dates.
"It's gorgeous." Daniel said from atop Rose as Jack dismounted Thor.
"You think so?" The alpha asked, grinning a bit as he tied his horse up to the tree. "You know we could always strip down, stretch our furrier legs. There's some neat sights that only wolves can get to out here."
The omega was quiet for a moment before he exhaled a burst of a laugh, "You had me for a moment; I thought you were going to go in a totally different direction with that stripping thing."
Jack helped him down, steadying Daniel as the omega almost stumbled once his feet hit the ground. Luckily the alpha was there for him to stumble into. He waggled his brows, "Well, we could do that too…"
Daniel shoved away from him, laughing. "Pervert."
"Can't blame me for trying!" Jack called as he led Rose over and tied her to the tree as well. He patted her side and she snorted at him.
Over at the table Daniel had already taken to pulling things out of the sack Jack had brought with them, taking stock of the meal the alpha had prepared.
